Editorial Policy
How BetterPath decides what to cover, what we refuse to publish, and what happens when something is wrong.
What this site publishes
BetterPath publishes buying guides: how to choose a category of product, what the tiers actually mean, and which trade-off you are accepting when you pay for the more expensive one. We cover Health & Fitness, Learning & Career, Investing & Money.
Nothing here is written to rank. A guide exists because someone was stuck deciding between options and the existing articles were either marketing copy or unusable detail. If a page does not help someone make a decision, we do not write it.
The three things we do not publish
These are hard rules, not preferences. They exist because the buying-guide category is full of pages that break all three.
1. Lab results we did not produce
We do not claim to have run laboratory tests. If a manufacturer publishes a measured figure, we attribute it to the manufacturer and say so. We do not turn a manufacturer's claim into our own finding.
2. Product names, models or scores we invented
We do not fabricate model numbers, invent review scores, or attribute results to a product we have not verified exists. Where we describe a tier rather than a specific product, we say it is a tier. A guide written this way stays useful when the product lineup changes; a guide built on invented specifics is worthless and dishonest.
3. Advice outside our lane
No medical, legal, tax or investment advice appears anywhere on this site. Gear recommendations occasionally touch on safety, and where they do we describe the manufacturer's stated limits rather than telling you what is safe for you specifically.
How we choose what to cover
- A real decision point. People genuinely cannot tell whether a spec matters. That gap is the article.
- The category is stable enough to write about. Gear that changes every season gets covered only when there is something durable to say.
- We can say something honest. If our only honest take were "it depends," there may not be an article here.
How we handle information that can go stale
Prices, availability and product lines change constantly. We therefore write about tiers, budgets as rough bands, and the trade-offs that hold across a category, rather than quoting today's price or listing models likely to be discontinued. When we do mention a specific product or price, we say when the page was last reviewed.
Corrections
If something here is wrong — a misdescribed feature, a trade-off stated backwards, a broken link — tell us at paomianll@126.com and we will fix it and say what changed.
We do not remove correct information because it is unfavourable to a manufacturer or an advertiser, and we do not soften a conclusion because a brand complained.
Advertising
BetterPath is supported by advertising. Advertising does not affect which categories we cover, what we conclude, or whether a trade-off is worth mentioning. A page is never written to promote a sponsor, and we do not accept payment to change a recommendation.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers. Our revenue comes from displaying ads, not from any one company paying us. That is why we will tell you that a cheaper tier is the right choice for most people, even when naming the expensive one would perform better for us.
